The 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show featured more than 3,200 exhibitors touting the latest technological creations.  Research some of these emering technology products

The three products that I found to be most interesting are intel's smart service, 2014 Audi A7 sedan, and Samsung smart home electronics.

Intel’s Smart devices:
·         * Intel’s Smart devices include a smart watch, smart ear buds, smart headset, and smart wireless charging bowl.
·         * The most interesting products I found are the smart watch and smart headset devices.

2014 Audi A 7 Sedan:
·         *Audi A7 is a self-driving car
t      *It has an infrared camera and thermal-imaging technology that helps the driver see farther down the road in low-light situations and can help alert the driver.

assistive devices for PCs to help individuals with visual impairment:

Any adaptive device or service that increases participation, achievement or independence for a

student with a disability may be considered assistive technology (AT). Assistive technology helps

students who are visually impaired (with and without additional disabilities) increase their access to

the general curriculum and improve their academic performance. It is important to thoughtfully

consider what devices, tools and technologies will be appropriate to meet the student's individual.

there are apps in various categories which helps the disabled and they include

note taking apps: AccessNote, Evernote, speakit, etc.

identification apps: Audiolabels, barcode scanner, aid colors.

vision skill apps: photo splash, color play, color splurge

examples of other products and ideas that are emerging that could help lessen the global digital divide.32.

The OLPC (One Laptop per Child) project is one of the methods used to lessen the digital divide. The
goal of OLPC is that OLPC ensures that every child in the world between the ages of 6 and 12 has immediate access to a personal laptop computer by 2015. This helps them to have access to new channels of learning, sharing, and self-expression.
Other products and ideas emerging to lessen the global digital divide .32 include:
a.       Closing the digital gap to lessen the global digital divide. The community organizations and education institutions, work together to provide programming and special projects to close the digital gap. They initiate the project by creating and launching neighborhood web portals accessible through public stalls across the communities.
b.      The Digital Divide Initiative Minneapolis (DDI) has a mission to provide technological skills and knowledge to participants to help them be successful in an increasingly digital world. The goal of the initiative is to promote technological literacy within underserved populations. Their programs included The Computer Exchange Program to distribute renovated computers to individuals and families through the Computer Take Home Workshop.
The EPA estimates that the e-waste generated by digital device produces more than 2.5 million tons every year. Research and post “green” initiatives to promote sustainability and reduce the amount of e-waste.
The EPA today plays an active role not only by providing energy effective methods, but also cost effective methods for the consumers. The “green” initiatives to promote sustainability and reduce the amount of e-waste include:
a.       Use of “Green computing” that is the environmentally responsible and eco-friendly use of computers and their resources. The goal of Green computing is to reduce the use of hazardous materials, maximize energy efficiency during the life time of the product, and promote recyclability of non-functioning products and factory waste.
b.      One concern is paper waste. The solution for the future (electronic paper) is by the use of Green Print and PrintWhatYouLike.com, that is designed to reduce paper consumption.
c.       Use of some organizations, such as Green Disk can be used to recycle the computer components such as CDs, DVDs, USB flash drives, and hard drives.
d.      Recycling programs specifically designed for discarded mobile phones. These programs renovate and sell the phones. Simple steps are taken to save Water.

 * The Arab Spring has been called the bloggers revolution.  What role did social media play in this revolution?
social media was used to bring about political change. The ability to use cyberspace as a location for doing what could not otherwise be done in reality: assemble to discuss ideas, concerns, and complaints, and to share frustrations, while also providing the social networking opportunity to unite, strategize, and plan for change. In cyberspace, the social restrictions that exist in reality in some places—such as gender segregation—disappear, providing groups of people who might otherwise never meet and converse the opportunity to connect and recognize what they share in common.

Lindsey Stone was fired over a picture she posted on her Facebook page.  Is it fair for 30,000 individuals, most of them probably strangers, to have the power to determine the course of an individual's life and livelihood based on one poor choice made on a social networking site?

we say life isn't fair whenever we do not get what we want. in my opinion, it just as fairer as it can be because it gives everyone choices and when you fail to pick the right one, those concerned picks for you.that is just how the world works now. social media can make or break you depending on how you use it. she might have been wrong but for her to be fired wasn't fair.

*Your online reputation can make or break you.  In fact, college admissions officers and prospective employers look at your digital presence.  Do you monitor your digital presence?  Can you get rid of your digital footprint?  Research and provide tips for managing your online reputation.

It's really a double-edged sword: on the one hand if you tweet you are in a specific location, this tells everyone you tweeted that your home is potentially empty. On the other hand, to make use of fast checkout on your favorite websites, the site needs to know it's you returning so it can retrieve your address and payment details. Minimizing the size of your digital footprint can be achieved easily if you take the time to do some housekeeping. this steps can help:

*check all your settings
*remove old accounts
*unsubscribe from mailing list
*register with a different email address
*use stealth mode when browsing
*think before you post
*tor browsing
*use ant-tracking tools
*leave no trace

What did you like about the video?

for the most part I think the video teaches self-awareness.
Being aware of your surroundings helps you make the right decisions.
I am sure if the participants were told what the workshop was about,
they might have reacted differently or there wouldn’t be any educational video to discuss.
What did you not like about the video?

In fairness, I think the video was one sided.
I was hoping to see the same experiment on black kids and what
will the reaction of the correctional officers be if the lady who
had the confrontation with the speaker was black?
Where you surprised at how the kids with blue eyes treated the kids with brown eyes?
I wasn't surprised because they had enough reason to believe
whatever the teacher told them. They were kids and trusted
the teacher to teach them the right thing.
What scene or scenes do u think you will still remember a month from now?
A month from now, I will remember the scene in the correctional
facility on how the white officer felt being discriminated against.
This is because people normally don’t know how the other feels when being hurt.

diversity chapter 1

What does it mean to be American?
Being American is a privilege. It means you get an equal opportunity to experience the American dream, a unique experience in which the individual gets an equal chance of prosperity and success through hard work in an upward social mobility for family and friends. This is the American dream!

21239 vrs 21215
this website gives access to all various public information related to your location. it is a good place to seek answers to questions in regard to your next location if you decide to relocate. I live in 21215 which based on the website, has seen a decrease in population from 66358 in 2000 to 63448 in 2013. in comparison, 21239 has seem to be a good location as it has less decrease in population of 48601 to 48403 within the same time span and it also has a better cost of living in 106.9 to 21215's 105.6 where the national average is 100.0.

What will the US demographics look like in 2050?  What does this mean for you?
Based on the US demographics, there likely won't be an issue of race as far as black and white is concerned. This is due to the impact of immigration  influencing multiracial birth. The rapid growth in the U.S. minority population is being fueled by immigration. By 2050, the majority of Americans will not categorize themselves in a one or even two race and that I think will level the playing field. Race being a very bad influence on the growth of this nation might decrease by 2050. For me this is evident that the world is being levelled and the rest of the world including me can not wait to see and possibly experience the change it might bring.
